To all;
Marco Sportfishing Club has created a special
membership, for which, unfortunately, you may
qualify to obtain. We refer to this membership
as a Surviving Spouse membership.
Since our club memberships are family
memberships, when one partner passes we wanted
to provide a mechanism for the surviving spouse
to continue as a member of the club either as a
full member required to pay the annual dues, or
a social member that does not have a dues
payment.
Let me explain. Currently, your membership
was paid for 2023. You are entitled to
participate in all club events whether they are
fishing events or purely social events, such as
picnics, tree lighting tailgating and the
holiday party. Come January 1, 2024 - the cycle
starts again. If you pay the annual dues of $40
- nothing changes.
With the surviving spouse membership, you pay
nothing. You can attend all of the club
social events at the normal member rate. You can
bring guests to the events, but they pay the
normal guest rate since they are a guest of a
club member. The only difference is you would
pay the guest rate for fishing events.
Some of you will opt for the surviving spouse
membership, some will not. It is entirely up to
you which membership you choose.
Just reply to me from this email with your
choice and I will inform the
membership chairman.
I sent this email to this small group because I
know you meet the criteria for this option. But
there may be more members who would qualify for
the Surviving Spouse membership. The only
criteria is that they were a member in good
standing when their spouse or significant other
passed and have remained a member in good
standing (that means paid the annual dues).
If you know of any other members who might
qualify, please send me their names.
Again, I am truly sorry that you qualify.
Keith

The Club has launched a new and improved
liability waiver process. Read all about
it.
Our Lawyer and our Insurance Broker have worked with us to
improve the liability waiver that we have been using.
Some of you may have already signed an earlier version this
summer that had an expiration date of Dec 2024 at the top.
That version has the same text and provides the same
coverage for the Club and our Members.
Follow
this link to see if you (and optionally, your
spouse) have already signed. If so there's nothing for you
to do at this time. We will remind you in late 2024 to
sign the
Current Waiver that no longer has an
expiration date. The Club & Members will be covered by
this waiver for as long as you are a member.
A signed waiver is required by each person who attends any
event sponsored by the club. The event organizer will
be checking the
List to make sure we have a waiver on
file for each person. You may be able to sign a waiver
at check-in or at the Captains meeting, but it is best to do
it in advance. Guests will also be required to sign a
waiver. Follow this link to find out more about
Guest
Waiver requirements. |

SAVE $$ ON
BOAT REGISTRATIONS
Did you know that you can save up to
30% on boat registrations by registering your
boat with Hendry County instead of Collier?
Boat registrations are a state function, not
unique to the county where you live or were you
use the boat.
The entire process takes
less than 10 minutes over the phone. They
accept credit cards and will mail out your
registration the same day.
As an added
bonus, they are a lot nicer than the grumpy
people I've dealt with at the Collier tax
collector offices!

menu on any page, click on "Interesting
Links..." under the Misc tab.

Artificial Reef Update
Complete information (and coordinates) about
the new reefs was included as pages 18-27 of
the
January newsletter, and is available online
on the club website. There was a short
article about the reefs and timing in that
issue as well. The one thing that not
everyone is fully aware of is that there are
6 reefs...2 Naples, 2 Collier County and 2
Marco Island. They just started dropping the
debris for the Naples reefs. The Marco reefs
are not scheduled to begin to be “dropped
on” until late this summer. Consensus is
that it will take a few months for the reefs
to begin to flourish once they are dropped
into place.

Be sure to pick up your discount card from the
Walkers Marine store behind the Walgreens, next
to their new marina. It's good for
discounts on items in the store and for some
service. It's a sweet deal for locals.

April update We believe the problem is
solved. From now on all the newsletters
posted on the website should work with all
browsers and portable devices. If you
have a problem please
CLICK HERE and report your issue.
...Thanks
WEBSITE ISSUE: Some folks have reported
trouble downloading the newsletters from the
website. We are investigating. So
far the problem seems to be related to the PDF
file size, and the browser being used.
We
are addressing the file size issue. The
March newsletter is available in two sizes.
The browser issue is a more difficult
problem. There are currently 5 popular browsers,
with multiple versions, including desktop and
mobile.
One tip: If you are using
Google Chrome Browser on an Apple product you
are likely to have trouble with more than just
newsletters. Google and Apple are fierce
competitors (iPhone vs Android). Google
does not want Chrome to work well on Apple
devices. However, Chrome on a Windows desktop
is great, and my preferred browser. On
Apple products you will do better to use Apple's
Safari Browser.
Stay tuned for more
developements. |

this to jump to the most popular webpages on the site,
including the new ones above. -a link to the NOAA
weather has been added to the home page in the "Hot
Links" box. -A bug has been fixed that was causing

appear. -some seldom used pages have been deleted to
reduce clutter.
If you find errors or things that
are not working please let me know.
