Wack-A-Whiting IV Party -January 2020 <return to top of page> The day was near perfect with an abundance of sunshine and a warm and balmy breeze. A group of 57 anglers on 22 boats attempted to catch the wily, cunning and elusive whiting. Although the whiting can be mysterious and crafty, most of the boats returned with fish. Anglers on six boats fished the “secret spot” and were rewarded with an abundance of fish. That night 89 people attended a party at Joe Perino’s house for food and spirits and to see the winners receive their prizes. It was a great event with wonderful camaraderie among friends. The winners were based on a total number of inches using three fish: 1st place: 42.75” Captain: Jeff Erickson. Crew: Cathy Erickson and John Rafes 2nd place: 41.5” Captain: Ron Scriver. Crew: Larry Heinemann and Tom Mitchell 3rd place: 40.25” Captain: Ed Brown. Crew: Sharon Weathers 4th place was a tie 38.75” Captain: Joe Perino. Crew: Jay Terzis, Keith Wohltman and Victor Ordija and Captain: Jerry Defibaugh. Crew: Rod Link, and Mick Haldeman 6th place: 38.25” Captain: Paul Milici.
